Page 13 is a printmaking project exploring the idea of a curtain between us and consciousness. Using text from 13 selected books, I developed my own alphabet and transformed a resonant paragraph from page 13 into a new manuscript. The resulting work reflects on unveiling hidden layers, suggesting new dimensions beyond everyday logic.

PAGE 13 is an ARTIST BOOK that pushes the boundaries of creative presentation and has, as its foundation, the idea of sequence.

The idea came from the Shakespearean quote, “All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players.” which I wrote casually on my painting easel and which stayed on my mind all the time. From that quote, I imagined my artist book to be like a stage where life, stories, and narratives unfold continuously.

Number 13 is not an unlucky number, but the number of love - of obtaining ultimate wholeness, achieving the ultimate level of our souls to elevate to the next level. Hence, by removing the curtain, we will be able to embrace that wholeness.

My process consisted of creating my own alphabet, carving all the letters out. The same way printing started, and that is also the process by which the Bible was written. Letter by letter, hour by hour, time moved slowly as the words were forming.

I selected 13 books and chose a sentence or a paragraph from page 13, recreating a new manuscript with words, meaning, and messages for the people willing to remove the curtain and receive them.

There, I thought of the meaning of the curtain that is on the stage, dividing the act from the audience. In this context, if the stage is the men’s world, then what holds us back from living life fully, from following our desires and passion? The curtain creates that layer that shuts our eyes. Once you move it or remove it completely, you see the light.

The reality that we know is only 1% of what we believe we know. If we remove the curtain, we allow the other 99% to be revealed — our truest potential, talents, purpose, happiness, and everything else.
